Understanding Reiki

What is Reiki?

The term “reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (vital life force energy that flows through all living things). An energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use a technique known as palm healing or hands-on healing, in which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred from the practitioner’s palms to the patient in order to promote emotional or physical healing.

How Reiki Works

Reiki, as a holistic therapy, treats the whole person: mind, body, emotion, and spirit. It is a biofield therapy that is based on the idea that there is a “universal” life force energy that exists in and around all living things. When Reiki practitioners place their hands on the recipient, they act as a conduit for this energy, directing it to where it is most needed. It is thought that this promotes balance and helps the body’s natural healing abilities. Recipients frequently report increased comfort, relaxation, and stress relief.

What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts more than three months. The pain may be present all of the time or may come and go. It can occur in any part of your body. Chronic pain can interfere with daily activities such as working, socializing, and caring for yourself or others. It can cause depression, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping, all of which can intensify your pain. This reaction creates a difficult-to-break cycle.

Ways Reiki can help an individual with chronic pain

Reiki treatment for chronic pain has become a popular pain relief option. Painkillers are frequently insufficient because the source of chronic pain is deep and rooted in emotional and mental disturbances.

Reiki healing is beneficial to more than just the affected area of the body. It addresses the underlying cause and begins to heal chronic pain from there. Reiki practice can heal acute pain by unblocking “energy knots” caused by tension or a traumatic experience.

Unblocking these “energy knots” restores the flow of the body’s natural healing energy in the system. Individuals suffering from debilitating pain can receive Reiki healing to help them cope with their physical and emotional challenges.

Apart from encouraging healing and treating chronic pain, Reiki also promotes relaxation which can help soften muscle tensions, lower anxiety levels, and reduce depressive feelings. When the body’s healing energy is not blocked by negative factors such as pain, exhaustion, and stress, Reiki clients can experience more relief and a greater sense of balance.

Lower back pain is the most common type of chronic pain. It can be extremely frustrating because the source of the pain is not always clear. Reiki assists the body in releasing old and repressed issues, allowing it to relax and open up. In its place, a new sense of balance and calm takes over, which can boost a person’s energy levels while reducing pain.

If a person is in severe pain that has been going on for a while, according to research, he or she should receive 3 or 4 Reiki treatments over the course of 2 to 3 weeks. These Reiki treatments then allow for a good buildup of energy, and the client can actually feel the benefits and improvements for themselves. Once been through Reiki once, individuals know in themselves when they want another Reiki treatment for whatever reason.
